Turning 70

Today my husband and I celebrate our birthdays, and this is the card I made for him. I used a SU! number stamp set to make the "70" with Versamark ink on black, then embossed it with gold embossing powder. I die-cut the rings with Gina Marie Designs stitched ovals and added 2 gold brads. The Birthday Wishes were cut from gold mirror cardstock and die-cut with Gina Marie Designs dies. I placed it on a piece of dsp and put it all on a vanilla cardbase. My husband has always been an avid horse fan, so this year the horse is on the inside with a printed sentiment. I think the milestone birthday number should be the focal element this year :)

I used some new heavyweight vanilla cardstock from SU! to make this card and I really like the thickness of it. It is much sturdier than their regular vanilla, and this is my "NBUS" (Never Before Used Schtuff) that I'm using to enter Darnell's NBUS Challenge #12.

Thanks for stopping by and make it a great Monday!

Sympathy Bouquet

Today I have a card with a water colored panel made with Squeezed Lemonade, Worn Lipstick, Spun Sugar, and Mustard Seed distress inks. I just randomly sponged the panel and lightly spritzed it with water and let it dry. For the bouquet, I used die-cuts done with SU! Bouquet Bunch framelit dies, adding some Nuvo pink glitter drops to the centers of all those tiny flowers. The little bow on the stems was coated with Stickles frosted ice glitter glue for some subtle sparkle. The sentiment was heat-embossed with white ep on black and cut with a SU! word window punch. I matted the image panel with black and placed it on a white card base.

I'm sharing this with the Happy Little Stampers September Watercolour Challenge which is anything goes with an optional twist of "spritz."

Thanks for stopping by and make it a great Friday!

Autumn Leaves

While digging through my stamps, I pulled out an older Kitchen Sink Stamp set and made an autumn card with all the leaf images. I used an assortment of copper, rust, and tan inks and placed the stamped panel on a copper-colored mirror sheet of cardstock. The leaves were cut with rust-colored cardstock and Spellbinder dies; then sponged with distress ink. After they dried, I covered them with Versamark ink and heat-embossed them with clear ep. Next I curled them around a glue stick barrel and popped them up on dimensionals and tied some copper color cording around them into a bow. The sentiment is by Unity and that panel was also matted with copper-colored mirror cardstock.

I'm entering this into the following challenges :

Little Red Wagon Challenge #412 - which is "Leaf it to me"

Simon Wednesday Challenge - which is to "Pop it up"

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you're enjoying these last few precious days of summer before it ends.

Tuesday Morning Sketch #421

It's time for a new Tuesday Morning Sketch challenge #421! This week we're being sponsored by All Dressed Up and I'm using one of their digital images called "Little Patch Puppy" that was colored with Copics and covered with little geo sparkler stickers that I've had in my stash for years. I dotted some of the tiny flowers with red liquid pearls too. {click to enlarge the details} I added 2 lime green medallions that were stamped with 2 different stick stamps and Versamark ink - then die-cut with MFT stitched circle dies. I added a SB scalloped circle die cut from turquoise blue behind the image panel and placed it in the center. The little button was die-cut with an IO button die, and the clouds were cut with Lawn Fawn dies. The twine was salvaged from an order that came in the mail, and the sentiment is from a MFP stamp set. The card base was embossed with an older ef that has the mfr's name worn off, so I'm not sure who makes it.

Please check the Tuesday Morning Sketches blog for the other DT members blogs and give them some love while you visit! We look forward to seeing what you make with this sketch.

Thanks for stopping by and make it a great Tuesday!

Manhattan Floral Anniversary

I don't make too many CAS cards but here's one I had in my files to be posted. I used a SU! ef and colored the raised edges with a Copic marker. I'm sure it would have been much easier to ink the embossing folder to color the raised portions, but I suppose I enjoy doing things the hard way? LOL
I rounded the corners and placed it on a pink card base, and added a white heat-embossed anniversary sentiment on a black snippet, using a retired window punch. For the final touch, I added 3 random clear gemstones.

I'm sharing this with the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge which is to make a Clean and Simple card this week.

I hope your Monday is off to a good start - thanks for stopping by!

Using Designer Paper Snippets

I'm really trying to use up all of those snippets of old Christmas designer paper before buying anything new, so I came up with this simple design to make several cards. I cut the end of the strips with a hexagon punch to make the fishtails, then matted them with Cherry Cobbler cardstock. The sentiment is from SU! and the holly leaves are die-cuts from Poppystamps using snippets of dark green cardstock. I added 3 tiny red gemstones to finish the card. I'm entering this into the following challenges:

the Snippets Playground weeks #299  and 300 - must use snippets

CHNC #351 - a/g Christmas - option to use 3 different designer papers

CHNC Extra for September - a/g Christmas

Craftyhazelnut's Patterned Paper Challenge for Sept - use patterned paper

Thanks for stopping by and I hope everyone is enjoying this last weekend of summer. Have a fabulous day!

Stash Digging

I recently sorted through my stash and found a large package of felt snowflakes I'd had for years and decided it was time to use them. This card is Island Indigo with pool party mats on both borders. I used a CB snowflake ef for the horizontal border and a piece of retired SU! dsp for the vertical panel. The blue snowflake was by SU! and I used a punched snowflake for the center done with a MS punch. The sentiment is by Northwoods and the final touch was adding some aqua Nuvo glitter drops.

This version has the colors reversed and I used a larger Lawn Fawn stitched snowflake die cut with a smaller felt snowflake in the center. This dsp is a long-time favorite BG that I've hoarded because I love it! Now is the time to use it and stop hoarding!! The embossed panel was done with a Sizzix EF.

And here's another using more retired SU! dsp, some smokey slate cardstock, a Darice ef, and a different MS punched snowflake. I switched this one up a little bit by placing the embossed panel underneath the vertical panel. I don't know which one I like better?

I'm sharing this with the Jingle Belles Christmas challenge which is a Tic-Tac-Toe grid this week. I used the center line up and down which is Snow, Card Stock and Blue.

To show you how determined I was to use up those felt snowflakes, I made a whole group of 43 cards using this simple sketch. I now have a serious jump on my Christmas stash and it's only September! Better yet, all of those felt snowflakes are now gone! poof!

Thanks for stopping by and make it a great day!

Time for Halloween Cards

Halloween is lurking around the corner, so it's time to get some cards made! I used a Memory Box Spider die for this one, placing him on an embossed slime green colored background done with a SU! ef. The punched border was won with a blog candy package last year, so I'm unsure if it's a punch or a die. I added some gel stickers to the punched border in Halloween colors and stamped, colored and fussy cut a couple pieces of Lawn Fawn candy corn. The sentiment is from Tim Holtz and I dabbed a couple of orange eyes on the spider with a glaze pen.

Thanks for checking in and make it a great day!

Birthday for a Friend

I recently made and gave this card to a long-time friend of mine so it's OK to post it now. I started with some GinaK pink cardstock, die-cutting a Gina Marie Designs (GMD) rose. I also cut one from white, swapping the negatives and coating the white with WOS glitter pen. The leaves are from a Hero Arts stamp set that were heat-embossed with white ep on dark green cardstock and then fussy cut. I curled them around a pencil and popped them up with dimensionals. The hummingbird was cut with a Cheery Lynn die and the red foiled material is from a mailing envelope an order came in. I removed the bubble wrap from the back and used the pretty red foil to die cut many items for cards. The pastel pink textured background was done with a SU! Petal Burst ef, and the sentiment was heat-embossed with white on black using SU! and MFP sentiment stamps. Those sentiments were cut with MFT label dies in 2 different sizes.
I added a drop of black stickles to the bird's eye for a little more sparkle.

I'm sharing this with the following challenges:

Shopping our Stash SOS #320 - Emboss like a Boss - use wet & dry embossing

TMS #420 Sponsored by DRS Designs

Hello and a very happy Tuesday to you. Today's Tuesday Morning Sketch Challenge #420 was designed by Melissa Craig and we're being sponsored by DRS Designs.

This week I used the sketch with stamps provided to me by DRS Designs called "Peculiar Pumpkin Patch" and "Happy Fall Y'All greeting." I colored the image with Copics, adding some grounding with a stick stamp by Judith. I used a snippet of long-retired SU! dsp along with some Island Indigo for matting and some beautiful ribbon gifted to me from a sweet friend who lives in Italy :)

I hope you can play along with us this week and please check out my DT members blogs to get you started with some great inspiration!

Thanks for checking in and I look forward to seeing what you create with this week's sketch! Have fun!
